The VLIR-UOS scholarship supports selected students in the University of Antwerp’s two-year, 120-ECTS Master of Epidemiology. The full-time, English-taught programme is delivered at Campus Drie Eiken in Antwerp, Belgium.
Students learn to design and conduct epidemiological research and translate findings into health practice and policy. The 2026–2027 scholarship cycle is closed, and the next scholarship opening date is not yet published.
Benefits & funding
- Ten full scholarships cover all expenses related to the Master of Epidemiology.
- Funding includes the course fee, an air ticket, insurance, visa costs subject to approval, accommodation and an allowance for living expenses.
- The funded programme comprises 120 ECTS over two years of full-time study.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be both a national and a resident of an eligible country; nationality and residence may be in different eligible countries.
- Eligible countries are Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
- For the 2026 intake, applicants could not be older than 35 on 1 January 2026.
- Applicants need at least a university-level Bachelor’s degree and sufficient preparation in relevant health, quantitative or research subjects; relevant clinical or public-health research experience can demonstrate preparation but is not required for the scholarship.
- Applicants must provide TOEFL or IELTS results, or proof of a university-level degree taught in English.
- An applicant may submit only one VLIR-UOS scholarship application per year and must not previously have received a Belgian government-funded Master’s scholarship.
