The Visegrad Scholarship at OSA is a joint scheme of the International Visegrad Fund and the Blinken OSA Archivum, the Cold War and human-rights archive at Central European University in Budapest.
Fellows spend up to eight weeks researching their own project in the archive’s holdings, with staff advisors and a closing public talk. Calls run twice a year; the 2026/2027 theme is “Naming Reality”.
Benefits & funding
- €3,000 for a two-month stay, pro-rated for shorter stays; it covers travel to Budapest, modest subsistence and accommodation.
- Reference services, collection briefings, a designated advisor and Visegrad seminar feedback.
- 75% is paid at the start; the last 25% only after a final presentation and a final report (due within ten working days of the stay) are approved.
Eligibility
- An MA (Master’s) degree in the social sciences or the humanities.
- Any nationality; V4 citizens are not required, though they win ties on equal scores.
- Advanced English, proven by an official exam certificate unless a native speaker or holder of an English-language degree.
- Past Visegrad Scholarship at OSA grantees cannot apply again; CEU employees cannot hold the grant.
- Socially engaged artists, journalists, scholars at risk and refugees of conscience are especially invited.

Application process
- 1Write an application letter naming your preferred stay dates, a research plan of about 800 words (artists add a portfolio) and a CV.
- 2Add the English certificate and the names and contacts of two referees — no reference letters.
- 3Merge everything into one PDF and submit it through the Archivum’s online form by 11:59 PM, November 10, 2026.
- 4One application at a time; a rejected proposal cannot be resubmitted.
