The Venerable Dr. An Hue Memorial Scholarship Fund is one of the University of the West’s Golden Benefactor Awards: donor-funded scholarships that the Financial Aid Office in Rosemead, California, runs.
It honours a former chair of UWest’s Department of Religious Studies. It supports current undergraduate and graduate students who face financial hardship and lead on campus, with an award each fall and spring semester.
Benefits & funding
- One award per semester: either $500 or $1,000, used in the semester it is awarded.
- The number of awards may change with the donor funds available.
- Recipients must write a report on their academic progress each semester, which goes to the donors.
Eligibility
- Full-time UWest students in a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate program (at least 12 units undergraduate, 9 graduate).
- At least one semester already completed in the program; students in their final semester cannot apply.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Documented financial hardship.
- Campus leadership, such as a student association or community service, and a commitment to ethical values such as kindness, honesty and compassion.
- Cannot be combined with the IBEF, President’s or Lotus Scholarships, except by petition for exceptional financial need.
- No nationality or residence rule is stated.
