The UWest Scholarship is an annual institutional award for continuing degree-seeking students at University of the West in Rosemead, California. It reduces tuition and required fees for the fall and spring semesters; recipients do not receive cash.

The Financial Aid Committee decides the number of awards each year. Recipients undergo a progress review during the first two weeks of the second semester.

Benefits & funding

  • Full-time students may receive up to $1,000 per semester and $2,000 per academic year.
  • Students enrolled below full time receive a prorated amount based on registered credits.
  • The award applies to tuition and required fees for fall and spring only; summer sessions are excluded.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be continuing degree-seeking UWest students; ESL and certificate-only students are ineligible.
  • Students must be enrolled at least half time.
  • Undergraduates need a 3.0 GPA and graduate students need a 3.2 GPA, although exceptional cases may be considered when other evaluation strengths are distinguished.
  • Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, integrity and service to UWest or the wider community.
  • The scholarship has no stated nationality, residency, age, gender or work-experience restriction.

Application process

    Obtain the current UWest Financial Aid Application for Scholarships from the Financial Aid Forms page.

    Complete and sign the UWest Financial Aid Application.
  3. 3
    International students must also complete and sign the University of the West International Student Supplemental Application for financial aid.

    Submit all required documents to the UWest Financial Aid Office by April 1; late applications are considered only exceptionally and if funds remain.
