Official Page

The Generation Change Fellows Program is run by the United States Institute of Peace for young leaders already working in peacebuilding. The two-year fellowship combines a core five-day training in prejudice reduction, leadership and conflict transformation with mentoring and a peer community of practice.

USIP organizes geographically targeted cohorts rather than one continuously open global intake. The accessible official material documents work across Africa and the Middle East and a 2024 Pacific Islands cohort held in Nadi, Fiji.

Benefits & funding

  • Two years of training, mentorship and mutual support.
  • A five-day, in-person core peacebuilding training.
  • Peer learning and an international community of peacebuilders.
  • For the documented 2024 Pacific Islands cohort, USIP arranged participant airfare, lodging, breakfast, training-day meals and required ground transport.
  • That cohort’s logistics plan allowed reimbursements of up to USD 30 for dinner and up to USD 20 for lunch on arrival and departure travel days.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be 18–35 years old.
  • Intended for young leaders who are already engaged in peacebuilding in their communities.
