New America’s Us@250 Fellowship funds storytelling projects tied to the United States’ 250th anniversary, built on three themes: pride, reckoning and aspiration. The 2024–2025 call sought longform journalists reporting local human-interest stories.
Fellows stay in their own communities and produce a publishable article. The anniversary passed on July 4, 2026; New America has published no new call, and the application page says it is not accepting applications.
Benefits & funding
- $10,000 honorarium, paid in installments, over a fellowship year.

Eligibility
- Journalists or reporters at any career stage, on staff at a newsroom or freelance.
- Must already have published a feature or longform article of about 3,000–5,000 words.
- The project must be a truly local human-interest story, not a snapshot of a national debate.
- No citizenship, residence, degree or age rule is stated.
