Graduating seniors, graduate students and young professionals carry out an independent research project in any STEM field, including emerging technologies, at a Korean host institution they arrange themselves.

Benefits & funding

  • ₩2,400,000 a month, paid every two months in KRW.
  • One-off allowances: ₩2,400,000 (one month’s stipend) for settling in, excess baggage and research materials, plus about ₩2,000,000 for Korean study if you already meet the novice level.
  • International travel, accident and sickness cover, 24/7 mental health line; dependent support available.
  • Grantees arrange and pay for their own housing.
  • 12 months of U.S. federal non-competitive hiring eligibility.
