Transformative Youth in Action

Benefits & funding

• Up to €8,000 for each selected community-level initiative.
• Online training in project-cycle management, communication and transformative leadership for up to 75 pre-selected applicants.
• An in-person kick-off meeting, networking, intermediate online support and a final evaluation and results-sharing meeting for selected leaders.
• The Transformative Youth track is described as running in 12-month cycles; the latest funded initiatives could run from October 2026 through March 2027, a window of up to six months.
• Pre-selected applicants who complete training join the MYA Alumni scheme; additional participation in regional dialogues is performance-dependent.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be 18–35 years old.
• Applicants must be affiliated with a youth-led or youth-oriented community-based organisation. A support letter is requested if the applicant is pre-selected.
• Applicants must be nationals of an eligible ALF member state and implement the initiative in an eligible country. ALF currently names Albania, Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mauritania, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia and Türkiye, while the call states that 43 states are eligible; applicants should confirm the application dropdown when the next cycle opens.
• No degree, residence, gender or minimum-years-of-experience requirement is published. Relevant community-engagement experience is assessed as part of selection.
• The initiative must be locally transformative and innovative, address a defined community need, promote inclusion, and have relevance at the Euro-Mediterranean scale.

Application process

   Complete the online form in Arabic, English or French and submit a local initiative outline of no more than 500 words.

   If pre-selected, join the online practical training.

   Prepare an extended proposal with a detailed initiative description, budget and indicators.

   If selected for an award, attend the in-person kick-off, implement the initiative with ongoing support, and participate in evaluation and results sharing.
