The Stanley Greene Foundation Emerging Photographers Grant 2027

The Stanley Greene Foundation Emerging Photographers Grant supports visual storytellers at the beginning of their careers in developing impactful visual narratives. The foundation runs the program to expand access, with particular emphasis on photographers from underserved and diverse communities.

The grant enables a recipient to launch or complete a journalistically realizable, visually translatable, and humanistically driven major photographic essay. The 2027 cycle is closed following its July 1, 2026 deadline.

Benefits & funding

The recipient receives $10,000 in total project funding.
$8,000 is paid when the grant is received.
The remaining $2,000 is paid after delivery of 15 digital images and a final report explaining the use and impact of the funds.
The 15 delivered images become part of the Stanley Greene Foundation Collection and may be used for promotional purposes.

Eligibility

Applicants must be visual storytellers at the beginning of their careers and must be at least 18 years old.
Current students cannot apply, but an applicant who is a student at submission and graduates before the grant decision is eligible.
Multiple creative collaborators may apply together.
The published rules state no nationality or residency restriction.
AI- or machine-learning-generated imagery is not allowed.
An individual may submit only one project proposal.

Application process

During an open call, follow the official grant page to the Picter application.

Submit a biography of up to 1,500 characters, a project description of up to 2,000 characters, and a project proposal of up to 3,000 characters.

Upload up to 25 images from the proposed project. For a new project, applicants may include clearly labeled past work that demonstrates their vision and ability to carry it out.

The jury reviews submissions and selects finalists. Finalists receive a short period to refine their proposals and answer the jury’s questions before the final selection.
