The Center for a New American Security runs this annual, part-time professional development fellowship for 20–25 emerging U.S. national security leaders. Fellows join hybrid leadership and national security discussions centered on CNAS programming in Washington, D.C. The year includes a dinner series and concludes with a week-long international study tour. The 2027 class is accepting applications through August 30, 2026.

  • Applicants need not live in the Washington, D.C. area, but they must be able to travel there for program dinners and remain committed to programming throughout the year.
  • No degree or current-employment requirement is stated.
