Official Page

The Club of Rome Communications Fellowship Programme is an annual mentoring placement for early-career communications professionals covering sustainability and systems change. Fellows work remotely from home with the Club of Rome communications team and make one trip to meet team members.

The 2026 cycle offered two positions and is now closed. Fellows support web publishing, media outreach, event coverage, multimedia and social media while learning to explain complex systems thinking to non-specialist audiences.

Benefits & funding

  • A location-dependent modest stipend contributes toward living costs.
  • Work-related travel costs are covered, including one trip to meet Club of Rome team members.
  • The seven-month placement runs Monday to Friday for 36 hours a week and includes 10 days of paid leave.
  • Fellows join an ongoing global network of communications specialists after the formal placement.

Eligibility

  • Only residents of countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, or Asia-Pacific are considered; the official page does not publish a country-by-country definition.
  • Applications and the selected writing or multimedia sample must be in English.
  • The ideal profile has a bachelor’s-equivalent background in science or journalism, or current or completed science-journalism study, but the page presents this as preferred rather than a hard degree gate.
  • The ideal profile also has experience explaining sustainability or systems thinking to non-specialists, or producing relevant multimedia, plus an interest in social media, video or photography.
  • Applicants should be able to understand complex scientific research or systems thinking and align with the Club of Rome’s vision.
