The Alexia Green Space Grant was a 2026 student pop-up award sponsored by Phil Ashwood and administered by The Alexia at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. It supported a photography or film project examining landscapes and the ways people use and experience green spaces.

Applicants entered through The Alexia’s shared student competition and opted into consideration for this thematic grant. The published 2026 cycle has closed, and the official page does not announce a future Green Space Grant cycle.

  • One selected student received a US$1,000 production grant.
  • Student submissions to The Alexia competition were free.
  • Recipients were expected to make meaningful project progress within one year of signing the grant agreement.

Eligibility

  • Applicants had to be academically engaged at a college, university, community college or photography center when applying, or have graduated in 2025.
  • The proposed work had to focus on landscape and reveal how people interact with green spaces such as parks, gardens, forests or farms.
  • The published rules stated no nationality, residency, age or gender restriction.
