The AISTS Athlete Scholarship pays half the standard tuition of the Master of Advanced Studies in Sport Management & Technology, a 15-month full-time programme in Lausanne, Switzerland. The current round is for the 2027–2028 edition, starting September 2027.
AISTS, a not-for-profit academy founded in 2000 by the IOC with Swiss universities and local authorities, runs it beside an Olympian and a Future Female Leader scholarship. Candidates apply to the master’s first, then email a separate scholarship file.
Benefits & funding
- 50% of the standard tuition fee: CHF 15,950 of the CHF 31,900 fee for the 2027 intake.
- The recipient pays the other CHF 15,950 even when a kick-off or early rate applies, plus travel and living costs in Lausanne (CHF 2,400–3,200 a month including rent, per the FAQ).
- Admitted applicants pay a non-refundable deposit, deducted from tuition: CHF 1,500 if they applied by 30 November 2026, CHF 3,000 after.
Eligibility
- Current or former athletes who have competed at international level (e.g. Olympic Games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games), with documented results.
- Considered only once admitted to the master’s.
- A Master recognised by EPFL; or an EPFL-recognised Bachelor plus five years’ work experience in any industry, or five years’ combined sport experience as an international or national athlete.
- English test from the last 12 months: TOEFL 85 internet (20 per section), IELTS 6.0 (no section below 5.5) or Duolingo 110; an English-taught degree does not replace it.
- Proof of funds for the remaining 50% and living costs.
- No nationality, residency or age limit is published.
