Ter Kulve Scholarship

Benefits & funding

• Up to €17,500, plus an additional tuition-fee waiver where applicable.
• The scholarship is granted for one academic year.
• Erasmus School of Law states that one Ter Kulve Scholarship was available across its procedure, which also included applicants from other faculties.

Eligibility

• Be a national of an economy classified by the World Bank as low income, lower middle income, or upper middle income for 2024–2025.
• Apply for a full-time master’s degree at Erasmus University Rotterdam through a participating faculty; Erasmus MC limited its route to Health Sciences, Neuroscience, or Molecular Medicine.
• Have an average grade equivalent to 8.0 on the Dutch 1–10 scale and meet the faculty’s excellence standard.
• Have recent relevant work experience gained after earning a bachelor’s degree.
• Have a record of supporting development in the home country and commit to returning there after the master’s degree to contribute with the skills gained.
• ESSB could award the scholarship only after admission, although a conditional offer was sufficient for an applicant still completing a bachelor’s degree.

Application process

   Apply for an eligible full-time master’s programme at a participating faculty.

   Follow the faculty route: ESSB used the EUR Admissions Portal, Erasmus MC used OSIRIS Cases, and ESPhil and Erasmus School of Law accepted applications by their stated email routes.

   Prepare the faculty’s required documents; these included a CV, academic records, a motivation letter, and, for Erasmus MC, ESPhil, and ESSB, a budget plan.

   Address the faculty-specific prompts on financial need, academic excellence, programme fit, and how the degree will support development in the home country.

   Submit by the faculty deadline; for 2026, ESSB used March 15, while Erasmus MC, ESPhil, and Erasmus School of Law used April 1.
