Teach for America (TFA) Scholarship

Benefits & funding

• A scholarship covering half of NYU Wagner tuition.
• Up to three awards are available.
• TFA alumni may also request an NYU Wagner application-fee waiver for any entry semester.

Eligibility

• Be a Teach for America alum.
• Apply to and be admitted to NYU Wagner’s Master of Public Administration or Master of Urban Planning.
• Enroll full time or part time for a fall start.
• Complete the TFA service commitment before the fall semester begins.
• NYU Wagner states no nationality, residency, age, or gender restriction for this scholarship.
• MPA and MUP admission does not require work experience, although NYU Wagner prefers at least two years of relevant experience.

Application process

   Create an account in the NYU Wagner application portal and start an application for Fall 2027.

   Select Teach for America as the affiliation in the Wagner Community section and request the application-fee waiver before paying.

   Provide proof of TFA affiliation, such as a Corps Verification Letter.

   Submit a complete admissions application with the required essays, résumé, transcripts, and recommendation letters; no separate scholarship essay is required.

   If admitted, await the scholarship decision, normally issued within 24–48 hours after the admission decision.

   Applications are open for Fall 2027 entry.

2. Within 24–48 hours after the admission decision

   Scholarship notification is normally issued.

3. Recipients begin the MPA or MUP, with the TFA service commitment completed beforehand.
