Stationers’ Company – BLACA Bursary in Copyright Law — Master's Scholarship

The Stationers’ Company – BLACA Bursary in Copyright Law is funded by the British Literary and Artistic Copyright Association (BLACA) and the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers. It pays up to £9,000 towards the tuition fees of postgraduate students who specialise in copyright law.

The scheme runs in cooperation with three London law schools: Queen Mary University of London, King’s College London and UCL. All three use the same rules, deadline and interview date, and each school has its own contact for applications.

Its stated aim is to support students who show commitment to building professional and transferable skills for the content industries. Bursary holders also receive mentoring and invitations to Stationers’ Company events.

Eligibility

Resident in the UK and classified as paying UK tuition fees.
An unconditional offer for a qualifying course, with enrolment in the 2026–27 academic year.
Qualifying courses: LLM Intellectual Property Law at QMUL; LLM Intellectual Property and Information Law or MA UK, EU and US Copyright Law at King’s; LLM Intellectual Property Law at UCL.
At least 90 credits from the school’s listed copyright modules.
QMUL list: International and Comparative Copyright Law (30), Music Industry Contracts (15), EU Digital Copyright Law (15), Intellectual Property and the Creative Industries (30), and a copyright dissertation (30).
King’s list: International and Comparative Copyright Law (30), Copyright and the Music Industry in the Digital Era (15), Commercialisation of IP (15), and a dissertation option worth 45 or 60 credits.
UCL list: Law of Copyright and Related Rights (45) and a research essay on copyright (45).
