Official Page

StartX runs a three-month accelerator for founding teams that include at least one Stanford-affiliated founder. The model is founder-led: coaching comes from entrepreneurs who have built companies themselves, and admitted teams keep access to the StartX community for life once the cohort ends.

StartX takes no equity and charges no fees. The community counts more than 3,000 Stanford-affiliated founders, 29 companies valued above $1B, and 144 companies valued above $100M. Companies apply from any sector, and StartX also runs sector tracks for medicine and biotech, for AI, and an energy track it lists as coming soon.

Benefits & funding

  • Three-month program, followed by lifelong access to the StartX founder community.
  • Access to resources StartX values at over $1 million.
  • Tailored mentorship from industry experts and experienced founders.
  • Introductions to vetted investors through curated events, panels, and fundraising support.
  • Peer-to-peer support from other founders in the cohort and the wider network.
  • No equity taken and no fees charged; founders keep full ownership.
  • StartX reports that its startups see an average 1.7x increase in valuation compared with non-StartX startups.

Eligibility

  • Founding teams building innovative, scalable companies in any sector.
  • At least one founder must hold a qualifying Stanford affiliation and a significant equity stake in the company.
  • Qualifying affiliations: degree-seeking students, alumni who completed three or more quarters, faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, academic staff and research scientists, and fellows in recognized Stanford fellowship programs.
  • Non-degree certificates, short executive education, online-only programs, and temporary visiting roles do not qualify. StartX says it may consider exceptions backed by strong recommendations from its community.
  • Admitted founders are expected to be fully committed to the company they apply with for the duration of the program.
  • No nationality, residency, age, or degree-level requirement is published; the affiliation with Stanford University is the gate.
  • Degree-seeking Stanford founders remain eligible for the Full-Time Accelerator when they can meet its full-time company commitment. Student Immersive is the part-time route for current Stanford students who continue prioritizing their degree.
