The SICOM 2026 Scholarship supports international researchers presenting accepted abstracts at SICOM 2026. The Society for Korean Obesity and Metabolism Studies hosts the congress at the aT Center in Seoul from November 26 to 28, 2026.

Applicants submit English-language research abstracts on obesity or related metabolic diseases, and the scientific committee selects scholarship recipients from outstanding accepted work. Recipients must present in person.

Benefits & funding

  • Presenters residing in South Korea receive KRW 150,000 in cash at the venue.
  • Presenters residing outside South Korea receive USD 350 in cash at the venue.
  • Recipients receive a scholarship certificate and complimentary registration for all authors, including co-authors.
  • Without the two advance tax-exemption documents, the cash payment is subject to 22% Korean withholding tax, reducing the stated amounts to KRW 117,000 or USD 273.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be overseas presenters; foreign nationals residing in South Korea are also eligible.
  • The submitted abstract must be accepted, and the recipient must present it in person.
  • Abstracts may cover any topic related to obesity or associated metabolic diseases.
  • The site states no degree, age, gender, or professional-experience requirement.

Application process

    Submit an abstract online in English by September 30, 2026, using Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion headings and no more than 300 words.

    Provide accurate country information during abstract submission; the site says scholarship eligibility is reviewed automatically and no separate scholarship application is required.

    Wait for abstract and scholarship decisions by email on October 7, 2026, then confirm participation if accepted.

    If selected, submit the 2026 Tax Residency Certificate and tax-exemption application form from October 7 to 29, 2026, if seeking the full untaxed amount.

    Bring the original passport, proof of registration, and, when applicable, the original Tax Residency Certificate to collect the scholarship at the venue.
