Benefits & funding

• For the cited Chinese-taught undergraduate route, First-Class funding follows the program length and covers tuition plus RMB 2,500 per month for living costs, RMB 1,000 per month as an accommodation subsidy, and RMB 800 per academic year for insurance.
• On that route, Second-Class funding covers tuition, accommodation subsidy, and insurance; Third-Class funding covers accommodation subsidy and insurance.
• For the four-year GIFT undergraduate route, First-Class funding covers tuition, RMB 2,500 per month for living costs, RMB 1,100 per month as an accommodation subsidy, and RMB 800 per academic year for insurance; lower tiers provide a 50% or 25% tuition waiver with specified subsidies or insurance.
• The graduate admissions guide directs applicants to the application system for the exact scholarship coverage and duration for their program.

Eligibility

• Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid foreign passport and meet the health, conduct, academic, and language requirements of their chosen SJTU degree program.
• Bachelor’s applicants must have completed high school or an equivalent qualification; master’s applicants need a bachelor’s degree; doctoral applicants normally need a master’s degree, although specified direct-entry doctoral routes accept bachelor’s degree holders.
• Graduate scholarship applicants cannot hold another scholarship at the same time; master’s applicants must be under 35 and doctoral applicants under 40.
• The cited undergraduate routes publish no general upper age limit for this scholarship.

Application process

   Choose an eligible SJTU bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program and complete its application in the Study@SJTU system.

   Select Apply for scholarships through SJTU in the scholarship section; no separate Shanghai Government Scholarship form is required.

   Upload the academic, language, identity, and route-specific materials, pay the applicable application fee, and submit before the relevant program deadline.

   Check the application system for the decision; scholarship results are released with admission results.
