The scholarship supports students entering the second year of selected Master’s programmes at Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. The Foundation for the Lugano Faculties funds the award, while USI administers the application.

For 2026/27, 25 scholarships are planned across eligible programmes in biomedical sciences, communication, culture and society, economics, and informatics. Selection uses a weighting coefficient based on the final average within each programme.

Benefits & funding

  • Each scholarship is worth CHF 4,000 for the 2026/27 academic year.
  • For students charged CHF 2,000 per semester, the scholarship covers the full academic year’s tuition.
  • For students charged CHF 4,000 per semester, the student pays the fall term and the scholarship automatically covers the spring term.
  • The award cannot be converted to cash and cannot be combined with other USI scholarships or study contributions, except mobility funding for study or internships.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must attend the second year of an eligible USI Master’s programme in 2026/27.
  • Eligible faculties are Biomedical Sciences except the Master of Medicine, Communication, Culture and Society, Economics, and Informatics.
  • Applicants must pass at least 80% of the first-year examinations by the end of the summer 2026 session.
  • The programme page lists Canton Ticino, Switzerland, and other origins, so it publishes no nationality or residency restriction.
