Estonia’s Education and Youth Board runs this national scholarship for international students in degree or exchange study at an Estonian higher education institution in the 2026/27 academic year.
Master’s and doctoral study may be in any field; bachelor’s support is limited to fields related to Estonian language and culture. The 2026 round is open from October 1 to October 31, 2026 (23:59 Estonian time).
Benefits & funding
- EUR 350 per month for bachelor’s and master’s study; EUR 660 per month for doctoral study; other costs are not covered.
- Degree students are paid for 12 months a year, or 10 months in the final nominal year; at most 12 months per award.
- Exchange students are paid for up to 10 months, for stays of at least 30 days.
- The stipend is paid through the host institution.

- Citizenship of a country in Annex 1 of the scholarship guide: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.
- Admitted to or studying at an Estonian higher education institution for 2026/27 as a degree or exchange student, with the institution’s confirmation submitted by the deadline.
- Bachelor’s applicants: fields related to Estonian language and culture only; master’s and doctoral applicants: any field.
- Doctoral applicants with an active junior-researcher contract at the host institution are ineligible.
- Continuing degree students must have completed at least 75% of the cumulative curriculum volume due by the end of the previous academic year.
