Rolling Residency

Can Serrat

Application Deadline

Rolling admission

Official Page

Can Serrat’s Rolling Residency gives artists and writers time and workspace for their own projects in a rural live-work community at El Bruc, near Montserrat and 45 km from Barcelona. Applications are reviewed monthly for the next available period, subject to the house and the proposed project.

The program emphasizes open-ended process, research, curiosity and debate rather than a finished result. Residents also join communal activities and weekly care of shared spaces.

Benefits & funding

  • The subsidized shared-room option costs €998.70 per month for up to two people; a private room costs €1,578.90 per month; studio-only access without accommodation costs €254.50 per month.
  • The stated real cost is €3,148.14 per month, so these are partial subsidies rather than full grants.
  • Shared- and private-room options include one or two prepared community dinners weekly, basic food supplies and snacks during some activities.
  • Residents receive access to shared spaces, equipment and studios, program activities, transport for Can Serrat-organized activities, staff follow-up, project visibility and inclusion in the digital archive.

Eligibility

  • Applicants may come from any background, discipline or stage of practice; no nationality, residency, degree, professional-status or age limit is stated.
  • Individuals, duos and collectives may apply.
  • Applications are accepted in Catalan, Spanish, French or English.
  • The residency is in person in El Bruc, Spain, and lasts from two weeks to two months depending on availability.
