The Richard Plaschka Grant supports researchers in the historical sciences whose work focuses on Austrian history or Austria-related historical topics. OeAD-GmbH administers the programme for research stays in Austria.
Fellows work as visiting researchers at institutes or undertake focused studies in libraries, archives, and research institutions. The programme seeks to strengthen research cooperation and lasting scholarly links with Austria.
Benefits & funding
- Monthly grant rate: €2,500.
- Initial scholarship period: four to twelve months.
- Following a positive evaluation, the scholarship may be extended to a total of up to eighteen months.
- After twelve scholarship months, fellows may apply for the follow-up support programme.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be researchers in the historical sciences whose work focuses primarily on Austrian history or Austria-related historical or historiographical topics.
- Eligible career stages are PhD candidates, PhD holders, postdoctoral researchers, and researchers.
- Applicants may come from any country except Austria; Austrian nationals are not eligible under the published country-of-origin rule.
- The funded work is an in-person research stay in Austria at relevant institutes, libraries, archives, or research institutions.
