Official Page

The Research in Industrial Projects for Students (RIPS) program, run by the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) at UCLA with National Science Foundation support, places talented undergraduates in small teams to solve real-world research problems proposed by sponsors from industry and the public sector. Over roughly nine weeks each summer in Los Angeles, student teams work with an academic mentor and a sponsor liaison, producing a final report and presentation. The program is aimed at students with a strong mathematics background who want to see how mathematics is applied outside academia. IPAM expects around nine sponsored projects per year.
