The Regional Excellence Scholarship is a University of Alberta entrance award for top international students from certain regions. It goes to study-permit holders completing high school in Canada who enter a U of A bachelor’s program.
There is no separate scholarship application. Applicants are assessed automatically when they apply for undergraduate admission, and those eligible are contacted directly.

Eligibility
- Attending high school in Canada on a study permit.
- From one of the select regions the university treats as eligible; neither official page names those regions.
- Admission average of 80% or higher, taken at the time of the admission offer.
- Applying for undergraduate admission to the University of Alberta; university study needs a new study permit.

Application process
- 1Apply for undergraduate admission from 1 October 2026; most programs close on 1 March 2027, and some programs set other deadlines.
- 2Pay the non-refundable admission application fee (CAD $150 for new applicants; some programs differ).
- 3No scholarship form: the university assesses the admission average at offer time and contacts eligible students.
