The Redes de Docentes de Inglés (RDI) are peer learning communities of English teachers spread across the regions of Chile. The Ministry of Education recognized and accredited them under exempt resolution No. 09830 of August 2003, and they sit inside the teacher professional development system set up by Law 20.903.
Each network is made up of teachers working in state-subsidized schools. Members meet once a month, elect one of their own as network coordinator, and work from a school offered by a sponsoring principal.
The Programa Inglés Abre Puertas backs the networks with technical support from Regional English Coordinators, pedagogical reflection guides, accompaniment by Regional Pedagogical Leaders, online refresher and specialization courses, calls for pedagogical innovation projects, and regional gatherings for sharing classroom practice.

- Access to the program’s pedagogical innovation calls, which prioritize teachers active in a network; the 2026 creative-writing call gave three online workshops, continuous tutoring, digital resources and a participation certificate.
Eligibility
- Open to English teachers currently teaching at an educational establishment that receives state funding in Chile.
- The registration route is for teachers who do not yet belong to a network.
- Creating a new network takes at least eight teachers of English from state-subsidized schools; that minimum is flexible in rural, mixed and low-population-density areas.
- A new network also needs a sponsoring principal who makes school premises available for meetings and activities.
- Members commit to holding a monthly meeting and to electing a network coordinator to represent them.
- No nationality rule is stated; the hard requirement is holding an English teaching post in the Chilean state-subsidized school system.

- 3Wait for the Regional English Coordinator to email you the procedure that applies in your locality.
- 4To start a new network instead, gather the teachers and a sponsoring principal, then complete the network creation form (ficha de creación) that the Regional English Coordinator provides.
