Quanta Magazine, an editorially independent publication launched by the Simons Foundation, runs this fellowship for early-career science journalists. The fellow works full time in New York City for six months, pitching, reporting and writing news and features about physics, mathematics, biology or computer science.
The role also includes research, fact-checking and collaboration with Quanta’s art, production, audience, video and podcast teams. Quanta offers two fellowships each year, with cohorts beginning in January and July; the most recent detailed posting covered July through December 2026.
