The Qatar Doctor of the Future Scholarships go to the four winners of the Healing Hands Essay Competition, run each year by Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar’s Office of Student Outreach and Educational Development. Each round sets a new medical theme.
In the 2025 and 2026 rounds, winners spent a week on hands-on research in WCM-Q’s core laboratories. The scholarship page still describes an older two-week New York visit. The 2026 round has ended; no 2027 theme or deadline is posted.
Benefits & funding
- 2025 and 2026 rounds: one week of hands-on research in a WCM-Q core laboratory (in 2025, five days of two-hour sessions).
- Winners receive a certificate and a prize at an awards ceremony.
- The scholarship page still describes the older format: a fully funded two-week visit to Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, with travel covered for the winner and one parent.
Eligibility
- Qatari nationals only.
- Students in grades 9, 10 or 11 (2025 and 2026 rounds); the scholarship page says students enrolled in high schools in Qatar.
