Official Page

Courants du monde is a Ministère de la Culture residency for established cultural professionals working outside France. Participants spend one to three uninterrupted months in a French cultural institution or public body during 2027 to develop a concrete cooperation project, deepen a skill, and learn the host’s practices.

The program includes the Résidence culture route and the Parcours de collections route for joint provenance research on objects and collections held in France. The latter gives preference, rather than exclusive eligibility, to applicants from Africa.

Benefits & funding

  • Participants receive a monthly stipend of €1,500 for accommodation, travel within France, and meals.
  • The program provides insurance throughout the immersion in France.
  • International travel and visa costs are not covered, and participants should bring enough money for approximately their first week.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be established cultural professionals with responsibilities in a cultural administration, institution, or organisation and contribute to cultural projects in their home country.
  • The call accepts applicants from all geographical regions; French speakers receive priority, while other language speakers may apply when the host can accommodate them.
  • Applicants must identify a host organisation in France and develop the residency project with it before applying.
  • Artists applying for their artistic practice and students are ineligible.
  • Professors and researchers are ineligible except for a non-academic Parcours de collections immersion.
  • Staff of the French cultural network abroad who qualify for other Institut français schemes are ineligible.
