President’s Scholarship — Bachelor's Scholarship

The President’s Scholarship is an annual University of the West tuition award for continuing undergraduate and graduate degree students. It recognizes academic achievement alongside leadership, service, and integrity.

Recipients study full time at UWest in Rosemead, California. The award covers the fall and spring semesters and is reviewed during the first two weeks of spring.

Benefits & funding

Full tuition is waived for up to 15 undergraduate units or 12 graduate units per awarded semester.
The waiver covers fall and spring only; summer, fees, and other attendance expenses are excluded.
The award is applied as a tuition waiver, not paid to the recipient in cash.

Eligibility

Applicants must be continuing, degree-seeking UWest students; ESL-only and certificate-only students are ineligible.
Students must register for and successfully complete at least 12 units per semester as undergraduates or 9 units per semester as graduate students, with a possible final-semester appeal.
The stated minimum GPA is 3.5 for undergraduates and 3.75 for graduate students, although exceptional strength in other criteria may support an individual exception.
Applicants must demonstrate leadership, service, integrity, and academic achievement.

Application process

Download and complete the signed UWest Application for Scholarships form.

Write an essay of at least 500 words covering leadership experience, community service involvement, and future plans.

Obtain two original references from eligible supervisors, community leaders, academic advisers, or teachers using the UWest Scholarship Reference Form in sealed envelopes signed by the referees.

Submit the complete package to the UWest Financial Aid Office by April 1; late submissions are considered only exceptionally and if funding remains.
