The Polish School of Medicine Memorial Fund (PSMMF) Scholarships are awarded by the University of Edinburgh to early-career Polish medical scientists. This distance-learning route supports new applicants who have been admitted to an online postgraduate taught Master’s or Master’s by Research programme at Edinburgh. The fund commemorates the Polish School of Medicine that operated within the University during the Second World War and continues to build medical-research links between Edinburgh and Poland. A variable number of awards are made each year, depending on the finances available.
Benefits & funding
- For distance-learning programmes, the award will normally cover the full tuition fees, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
- No subsistence (living) allowance is payable on the distance-learning route — scholars study from home in Poland.
- The fund does not cover research costs or travel.
- The number of awards varies each year, depending on available finances.
- (A separate on-campus Edinburgh route instead offers a subsistence allowance for 1–12 months, with possible partial tuition assistance for a limited number of applicants.)
