The Pear Fellows Program is an apprenticeship run by Pear VC, an early-stage venture firm based in Menlo Park and San Francisco. Each year a small group of undergraduate, MBA, and PhD students is chosen to work directly with Pear’s partners and investment team. Fellows learn how the firm finds, selects, and supports founders, and they help run Pear’s events and programming on their own campuses. The 2022 cohort selected 14 fellows from hundreds of applicants, drawn from schools including Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard. It is a training ground for students aiming at a career in venture capital.

Benefits & funding

  • Direct group and one-on-one mentorship from Pear’s investment team.
  • Access to the firm’s deal flow, with hands-on company due diligence and sector-thesis work.
  • Ownership of Pear events and programming on campus.
  • Entry to an alumni network whose members have gone on to firms such as Lightspeed, Sequoia, DFJ, and DST Global, and to founding venture-backed startups.
  • This is an experience-based apprenticeship; Pear’s pages state no salary or fee.

  • The program is delivered on US university campuses; fellows to date have come from schools including Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley, Penn, and Harvard.
