The School of Climate Change is an 8-week introductory course run by the Oxford Climate Society, a student-led society at the University of Oxford. Each cohort brings together researchers, experts, and activists to give a holistic introduction to the climate crisis — from the physical science of climate change to its law, economics, and governance. Sessions are led by leading Oxford academics and guest speakers, and participants join either in person in Oxford or online from around the world. More than 2,500 participants over three-plus years have completed the course and earned a certificate.

  • Only a small fee to help cover the course’s running costs (collected after the first week’s session); no salary or stipend is provided

Eligibility

  • Open to anyone worldwide — participants join from many countries, age groups, and backgrounds
  • No prior experience or knowledge of climate is required
  • Online participation is open globally; in-person attendance is recommended for those based in Oxford
  • Note: as a student-run society, Oxford Climate Society cannot sponsor visas or provide accommodation or travel
