The Open Society Institute (OSI) Scholarship supports eligible students studying at the American University of Central Asia in Bishkek. AUCA’s Scholarships and Financial Aid Office administers the application, while OSI is listed as a current donor.

The award is for one academic year and may be renewed if the recipient continues to meet the scholarship requirements. The published 2026–2027 application cycle has ended.

Benefits & funding

  • The scholarship covers 70%–90% of tuition fees.
  • Additional donor support may cover accommodation and meals.
  • Support is awarded for one year; renewal depends on meeting all scholarship requirements.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, or Uzbekistan.
  • The scholarship is unavailable to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
  • Applicants may apply to any AUCA program except Business Management and Software Engineering.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial difficulty and strong academic performance, with a minimum GPA of 2.7/4.0 or 3.0/4.0 depending on the evaluation scale.
  • The financial-aid form serves prospective students and current students applying for aid for the first time.

Application process

    Complete AUCA’s financial-aid application form for the relevant academic year.
  2. 2
    Attach the required evidence, including a photo, passport copy, an English essay of at least 500 words on why financial aid is needed, and the listed household, property, and income documents.
  3. 3
    Submit the complete package to the Scholarships and Financial Aid Office; applicants outside Bishkek may email it and must provide original documents upon arrival.
