The Nanyang Merit Scholarship supports outstanding freshmen entering full-time undergraduate degrees at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. It is open to all nationalities and covers the recipient’s normal programme duration, subject to academic performance and conduct.

Eligibility includes good co-curricular records and good leadership qualities and potential. The scholarship application runs alongside undergraduate admission and uses the deadline for the applicant’s qualification group.

Benefits & funding

  • Full coverage of subsidised tuition fees after the Singapore Ministry of Education Tuition Grant.
  • S$5,000 living allowance per academic year.
  • One-off S$4,000 travel grant.
  • Coverage continues for the normal programme duration if the scholar maintains good academic performance and exemplary conduct.
  • No separate scholarship bond applies, but Singapore permanent residents and international students using the Tuition Grant are subject to its three-year bond.

Eligibility

  • Open to applicants of all nationalities.
  • Applicants must seek admission to a full-time NTU undergraduate degree.
  • Applicants need outstanding results in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level, a diploma from a Singapore polytechnic, the NUS High School Diploma, the IB Diploma or an equivalent Year 12 qualification.
  • Applicants need good co-curricular records and good leadership qualities and potential.
  • International students and Singapore permanent residents must take the Ministry of Education Tuition Grant to retain the scholarship.

Application process

    Submit the appropriate NTU undergraduate admission application for the applicant’s school qualification.

    Use the assigned admission application number to open the scholarship form after submitting the admission application.
  3. 3
    Complete the compulsory personal essay of no more than 250 words and submit the scholarship form by the admission deadline for that qualification.

    Upload a recent passport-size photograph and send the appraisal link to one school teacher who is not a family member or relative.
  5. 5
    Ask the teacher to submit the online appraisal within seven days, then monitor email for a possible interview invitation.
