Najran University is a public university in the city of Najran, in the south of Saudi Arabia, founded by royal decree in 1427 AH. Its Scholarship Department serves every non-Saudi student at every level, and about 400 international students from 44 countries study there.
A scholarship at Najran is a study place granted to a non-Saudi man or woman. The internal route is for non-Saudis living legally in the kingdom; the external route is for applicants who come from abroad. A place can be fully funded, partial, or self-paid.
The 2026 call covered bachelor’s and master’s programs. Applications went through the Ministry of Education’s Study in Saudi platform and closed on 21 May 2026.
Benefits & funding
- A full external scholarship includes health care for the student and family members on the same terms as Saudi citizens.
- Two months’ stipend on arrival as a settling-in allowance, and three months’ stipend at graduation to ship books home.
- External scholarship holders receive a monthly stipend; the university does not publish the amount.
- University housing, and meals at a discounted price set by the university board.
- A flight home at the end of each academic year, under the university’s financial rules.
- Students from Gulf Cooperation Council countries receive one round-trip air ticket per academic year.
- Every other benefit that fellow students at the university receive, plus paid hourly campus jobs, university loans and emergency financial help.
- Internal-route students receive no monthly stipend and no air ticket.
Eligibility
- Open to non-Saudi nationals of any country; Saudi students enter through regular admission.
- Applicants must be at least 17; the upper limit is 25 for bachelor’s study and 30 for master’s study.
- Bachelor’s applicants need a secondary-school certificate; master’s applicants need a bachelor’s degree.
- Applicants must meet the admission requirements that apply to Saudi students in the chosen program.
- Internal route: a valid Saudi residency permit (iqama) and regular residence in the kingdom.
- External route: a passport valid for at least one year.
- No other scholarship from an institution in the kingdom, and no past dismissal from one.
- Certificates attested by the authorities the university names, a security clearance from the home country, and a passed medical examination.
- Where the home government requires it, its approval to study in the kingdom.
- A female student needs a mahram (a close male guardian) with her, under the ministry’s conditions.

Application process
- 1Choose the route: internal if you hold a Saudi residency permit, external if you apply from abroad.
- 2When the annual call opens, apply on the Study in Saudi platform and select Najran University and a program.
- 3Submit your qualification certificate, the completed application form, and either a passport valid for one year (external) or your iqama (internal).
- 4The Scholarship Department nominates candidates and the Ministry of Education approves them.
- 5Admitted external students receive an entry visa arranged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- 6On arrival, apply for the residence permit with the admission letter, passport, a medical check at the University Medical Center, and copies of your certificate, transcript, birth certificate, home-country medical report, police clearance and academic recommendations, plus six photos.
