The Ms. ChingHua Wang (王金華) Scholarship is one of the Golden Benefactor Awards, the donor-funded scholarships of the University of the West (UWest) in Rosemead, California. It honours a grandmother who never learned to read.
The Financial Aid Committee picks recipients each fall and spring from continuing full-time undergraduate and graduate students. Terms come from the 2022–23 awards booklet, which the scholarships page still links.
Benefits & funding
- Two awards of US$500 each fall and each spring semester, used in the semester awarded.
- Only one Golden Benefactor Award per student per semester; it cannot be combined with the IBEF, President’s or Lotus scholarships (students in exceptional need may petition).
- Recipients write a semester report on their academic progress for the donor.
Eligibility
- Continuing UWest students who have already completed one full-time semester in a degree-seeking program.
- Full-time undergraduates (12+ units) or graduate students (9+ units); this award’s own terms admit students in their final semester, though the booklet’s general rules exclude them.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Academic performance, character and real financial need are assessed.
- No nationality or residence rule is stated.
