The Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Scholarship Foundation Scholarship is a university-nominated award for students entering eligible two-year master’s programs at the International University of Japan. IUJ screens admitted applicants and nominates candidates, while the foundation makes the final selection.
Recipients study in person at IUJ in Minamiuonuma, Japan. The award supports living costs and does not cover IUJ admission or tuition fees. The current application portal is closed, with applications for September 2027 admission scheduled to reopen in September 2026.
Benefits & funding
- The monthly stipend is ¥115,000.
- The scholarship is a non-repayable grant.
- At IUJ, support is provided for two academic years in principle.
- IUJ admission and tuition fees are not covered.
Eligibility
- Applicants must seek admission to an eligible two-year IUJ master’s program and hold, or be completing, a bachelor’s degree.
- Japanese graduate applicants must generally be age 33 or younger; international graduate applicants must generally be age 38 or younger. The structured age field uses 38 so the international route is not hidden.
- Applicants must have a strong academic record, good character and health, financial need, and an intention to contribute to society through professional or academic work.
- Applicants must be able to prioritize foundation events. Japanese communication ability for individual interviews and continued Japanese study are encouraged, not stated as hard requirements.
- IUJ accepts domestic and international admission routes. Non-Japanese recipients must obtain Student status in Japan to receive an IUJ-administered scholarship.
