The MENA Junior Fellowship is run by Social Sciences Lab MENA, an independent, non-governmental research institute registered in Tallinn, Estonia. Now in its third edition, the fully remote programme supports graduated students and early-career scholars working on the Middle East and North Africa. Over three months, fellows receive structured training, mentorship, and academic supervision aimed at producing one research article. The affiliation itself extends for one year through continued access to the Lab community. The programme is delivered online with flexible, weekend-focused sessions and no fixed daily meetings.

Eligibility

  • Nationals of MENA countries, or researchers with a demonstrated interest in MENA studies
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (BA or equivalent)
  • Graduated students or early-career scholars building an academic profile
  • Proficient in Arabic; English is an additional asset
  • Reliable internet access for online activities and meetings
  • Committed to actively joining scheduled sessions and collaborative tasks
