EMHRPP is a full-time, English-taught master’s run by a four-university consortium led by the University of Gothenburg. Students study first in Gothenburg, then at the University of Deusto in Spain and the University of Roehampton in London; thesis supervision can add mobility to UiT in Tromsø.
Across four semesters, the curriculum combines human rights theory, research methods, professional seminars, field visits, and a possible London internship. Graduates receive a joint Master of Arts in Human Rights Policy and Practice.
Benefits & funding
- Around 15 Erasmus Mundus scholarships are offered per year.
- The scholarship covers programme participation costs and health insurance for 24 months, pays EUR 1,000 per month for living costs, and contributes to travel and installation costs in two instalments.
- Self-funded participation costs are EUR 9,000 for programme-country students and EUR 18,000 for partner-country students; travel and general living costs are additional.
- The programme includes study in Sweden, Spain, and the United Kingdom, with possible thesis mobility to Norway.
Eligibility
- Applicants must hold a first degree equivalent to 180 ECTS from a recognized university or college.
- At least two years of human-rights practitioner experience is required; relevant employment, internships, and voluntary work can count.
- Applicants must meet English B or English 6, or an accepted equivalent test level, and satisfy every requirement by the application deadline.
- No age limit or nationality bar is published for programme admission.
- Previous Erasmus Mundus joint-master scholarship holders cannot receive another scholarship under this action, and scholarship recipients cannot hold another EU grant during the programme.
