The Managing Global Governance Academy is an international training and dialogue programme run by the German Institute of Development and Sustainability. It brings early- to mid-career professionals to Bonn for an intensive three-month course on global cooperation and sustainable development.
Academic learning, leadership development and applied project work are combined with participatory methods, peer coaching and reflection. The 2026 cohort runs from 11 September to 29 November.
Benefits & funding
- IDOS provides participant-only accommodation during the Academy.
- Participants receive approximately €2,200 in three instalments as a living allowance; exceptions may apply to locally recruited participants.
- IDOS provides health, liability and accident insurance for the stay in Germany.
- The allowance does not support dependants, and participants pay costs not covered by the provided insurance.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be nationals or permanent residents of Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa, or an EU member state: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain or Sweden.
- Applicants must work on global governance and/or sustainable development.
- A university degree of at least Bachelor level is required.
- Applicants need 3 to 15 years of relevant professional experience.
- Good English supported by a language certificate, written employer support and availability for a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week are required.
- Applicants must be open to teamwork, varied learning methods, intercultural exchange and reflection.

- 1Read the participation conditions and complete the online application.
- 2Complete and sign the applicant statement; have the employer complete, sign and stamp its statement of support.
- 3Upload the two forms, an English CV, diploma or certificates in English or with an English translation, and the main passport pages.
- 4Keep the submission to no more than five PDF files, each no larger than 10 MB; merge documents if necessary.
- 5If requested, attend an online interview or submit a short video presentation. Selected applicants accept the offer, sign the participation contract and begin the visa process after receiving the official invitation.
