The Ledig-Rowohlt Grant Fellowship is a stipend-carrying route of the Ledig-Rowohlt Foundation’s residence for writers and literary translators at Château de Lavigny in Lavigny, Switzerland.
Each four-week session hosts up to six writers from different countries, who plan their own working time and give one public reading. The application form says only very few of these full grants are offered each year.
Benefits & funding
- Four weeks of lodging in a private room at the château.
- A CHF 1,200 stipend toward food; residents buy and cook their own meals.
- An evening aperitif and one dinner a week, offered by the management.
- Travel is not listed among the costs covered.
Eligibility
- At least one published book, not self-published, in fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, literary translation, plays or screenplays; playwrights and screenwriters may qualify with published or produced work.
- Open regardless of country of origin, but fluent English or French is required.
- The château is difficult to access for people with reduced mobility.
