The Learning Sciences Exchange (LSX) Fellowship is a New America program that brings mid-career professionals from fields that rarely work together into teams focused on education challenges. The latest published cycle, the 2024–25 LSX Focus Fellowship, centered on parent and family engagement in elementary and middle schools.
Seven fellows worked across education leadership, learning-science research, social-impact entrepreneurship, journalism, and entertainment or game development. They began with an in-person summit and orientation in Washington, DC, continued through monthly virtual co-design sessions, and visited partner schools in Pennsylvania.
Benefits & funding
- Each fellow in the 2024–25 cohort received a $1,500 stipend plus travel funds.
- Fellows received training in learning-science concepts and methods for communicating research to broad audiences.
- The one-year program connected fellows with a cross-sector network and supported team projects for three Pennsylvania schools.
Eligibility
- The 2024–25 open call accepted applicants based in the United States, Mexico, or Canada.
- Applicants had to be mid-career professionals in learning-science research, social-impact entrepreneurship, education journalism, or entertainment and game development.
