The Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame hosts scholars with substantial research experience for a semester or a full academic year of peace research in residence.
For 2027–28, proposals should address gender, race, class and peacebuilding; international mediation; or sustainability, climate change and peace. Research with direct policy or practice relevance gets preference. Applications are open on Interfolio until November 30, 2026.

Eligibility
- A completed doctoral or equivalent degree; current Ph.D. students may apply only if they finish the degree before the fellowship begins.
- Substantial research experience and a project that connects to ongoing Kroc Institute research.
- Former Kroc Visiting Research Fellows must wait seven years before applying again.
- Open to scholars from around the world; no nationality or residence restriction is published.

Application process
- 1Write a cover letter (max. 2 pages) stating one or two semesters and the chosen theme.
- 2Write a research proposal (max. 10 double-spaced pages, bibliography included) covering sources, data, methods, analysis, timetable and expected products.
- 3Add an up-to-date CV.

- 5Submit on Interfolio by November 30, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET; a faculty committee recommends fellows to the Institute Director.
