Benefits & funding

Eligibility

• Citizenship of one of the 95 designated 2026 partner countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Uganda, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Niger, Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Burkina Faso, Benin, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Angola, Zambia, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, Togo, South Sudan, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, São Tomé and Príncipe, Comoros, South Africa, Botswana, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Honduras, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Guyana, Grenada, Dominica, Belize, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Nepal, Timor-Leste, Laos, Mongolia, Maldives, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Fiji, Nauru, Niue, Marshall Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Tonga, Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Jordan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Palestine, or Turkmenistan.
• A government official or public-sector employee working in education, with an official nomination from the applicant’s government.
• A bachelor’s degree recognized by the nominating government. Two years of relevant experience was preferred in the general KOICA guideline but was not mandatory.
• Age 40 or below for the KNUE program, good mental and physical health, and sufficient English for graduate study and thesis writing.
• No previous Korean-government-funded master’s degree and no prior KOICA scholarship cancellation after enrollment.

Application process

   Confirm nationality eligibility and request the local deadline and submission instructions from the relevant KOICA country office or Korean Embassy.

   Obtain government nomination and submit the KOICA forms, government recommendation letter, passport copy, and locally required documents by email.

   If selected in the KOICA round, submit the KNUE application package through the method provided by the university.

   Complete university document screening, a local medical check, and the KNUE interview or any required test.

   After final selection, submit authenticated original documents, complete visa and vaccination steps, and pass the medical check after arrival in Korea.
