Benefits & funding

Eligibility

• Female government officials who receive an official nomination from their government.
• Citizens of the 95 countries designated for the 2026 cycle: Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, Uganda, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Niger, Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Burkina Faso, Benin, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Angola, Zambia, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, Togo, South Sudan, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, São Tomé and Príncipe, Comoros, South Africa, Botswana, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Honduras, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Guyana, Grenada, Dominica, Belize, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Nepal, Timor-Leste, Laos, Mongolia, Maldives, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Fiji, Nauru, Niue, Marshall Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Tonga, Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Jordan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Palestine, and Turkmenistan. The designated-country list may change annually.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher that is officially recognized by the applicant’s government.
• Have sufficient spoken and written English for coursework and a thesis. Ewha accepted TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS Academic 6.5, New TEPS 266, TOEIC 705, or proof that a prior university degree was taught entirely in English for the 2026 cycle.
• Be in good physical and mental health for the full period of study in Korea.
• Applicants who previously completed a Korean government-funded master’s scholarship, or whose KOICA scholarship was cancelled after enrollment, are not eligible.
• Being under 40 and having two years of relevant experience were preferences, not hard eligibility gates, for the 2026 cycle.

Application process

   Obtain government nomination and submit KOICA documents through the relevant KOICA country office or Korean Embassy by the locally announced deadline.

   Complete the KOICA country-office or embassy interview.

   If advanced, submit Ewha’s application, statement of purpose, gender-equality essay, two recommendations, employment certificate, English evidence, passport copy, photos, bachelor’s degree, and transcripts.

   Complete Ewha’s document screening, local medical check, and interview or test.

   Successful university-round applicants submit authenticated originals through the KOICA country office or Korean Embassy and then complete visa, arrival, orientation, and the medical check in Korea.
