The KNB Scholarship (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang, “Developing Countries Partnership”) is a fully funded degree scholarship offered by the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek). It brings students from developing countries to Indonesia for a full bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree at one of more than 40 partner universities, across a wide range of academic fields. All recipients first complete a one-year Bahasa Indonesia preparation program (BIPA) before starting their degree. The program aims to strengthen cooperation and people-to-people ties between Indonesia and other developing nations.

Eligibility

  • Citizens of a developing country / Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member country that maintains relations with Indonesia (developed-country nationals are not eligible)
  • Age as of 31 December 2026: maximum 21 (bachelor’s), 35 (master’s), 40 (doctoral)
  • Prior qualification for the level: secondary-school diploma (bachelor’s), bachelor’s degree (master’s), master’s degree (doctoral)
  • English proficiency: bachelor’s TOEFL ITP 477 / iBT 53 / IELTS 5.5; master’s TOEFL ITP 500 / iBT 61 / IELTS 6.0; doctoral TOEFL ITP 530 / iBT 71 / IELTS 6.0 (TOEIC also accepted)
  • Good health

Application process

    Register for an account on the official KNB portal (knb.kemdiktisaintek.go.id) during the application window.

    Complete the online application and upload the required documents — graduation certificate and academic transcript, recommendation letters, a statement/essay, passport, and English proficiency evidence.

    Choose university and study-program preferences from the partner-university list.
  4. 4
    Submit before the deadline; selection and verification are carried out by the Directorate General of Higher Education, with results announced online.
