The Digital Fellowship is run by the Kennan Institute, the Russia and Eurasia program of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. It supports scholars and practitioners who study Russia and the wider Eurasian region, letting them pursue an individual research project entirely online while connected to the Institute’s experts and alumni. Ten fellowships are awarded each cycle, with at least four reserved for people working in the natural sciences, medicine, technology, or related fields. Fellows meet virtually once a month and produce a public-facing piece with editorial support from Kennan staff.

Eligibility

  • Individuals with several years of experience working on, studying, or otherwise examining Russia and/or broader Eurasia
  • Good working knowledge of English (the fellowship is conducted only in English)
  • At least four of the ten positions are reserved for applicants in natural sciences, medicine, technology, or related fields
  • Open to applicants of any nationality
