The KAIST Visual AI Group, led by Professor Minhyuk Sung at KAIST in Daejeon, South Korea, runs a paid, in-person research internship for university students. Interns join an active computer-vision and machine-learning lab and work alongside its researchers on generative AI and visual-data projects. The group advances technologies for generating, processing and analysing visual data, with current themes in generative modelling (cross-modal and diffusion/flow models), biological data generation, generative policy learning, and spatial intelligence / embodied AI. Interns commit full-time for at least eight weeks and are based on the KAIST campus.
Benefits & funding
- Paid internship (stipend), and the lab provides computing resources.
- Note: due to administrative restrictions, students enrolled at a university outside Korea cannot be paid.
- Non-KAIST interns may stay in KAIST dormitories during the internship.
- Hands-on research experience in generative AI and computer vision alongside the group’s researchers.
Eligibility
- Open to current university students; non-KAIST students and international students enrolled at Korean universities may apply.
- Experience developing deep-learning techniques is required.
- Candidates who have taken or audited “Diffusion and Flow Models” and/or “Machine Learning for 3D Data” are preferred (not required).
- Interns must be physically present in the lab in Daejeon for the duration.
- Full-time commitment of at least 8 weeks; breaks of up to one week are allowed with prior approval, and extensions with remote work may be considered.
Application process
