Jouf University is a public university in Saudi Arabia’s northern Al-Jouf region, set up by royal decree in 1426 AH (2005). It is based in Sakaka, with branches in Qurayyat and Tabarjal, and runs 14 main colleges and more than 24 bachelor’s programs.

Non-Saudi students can study there on a university scholarship through two routes. The external scholarship recruits students from outside the kingdom and covers study and living costs. The internal scholarship is for non-Saudis who already live in the kingdom on a valid residency permit.

Both routes open once a year. For the 1448 AH academic year, applications went through the Ministry of Education’s Study in Saudi platform and closed on 21 May 2026.

Benefits & funding

  • External scholarship: covers educational and living costs.
  • Comprehensive health care.
  • A monthly financial allowance; the university does not publish the amount.
  • University housing.
  • Annual travel tickets, subject to the applicable regulations.
  • The same benefits Saudi students receive.
  • Internal scholarship: the guide lists financial and service benefits without itemising them; Ministry rules let a university award a full package or a partial one, such as a study seat only or a seat with housing.

Eligibility

  • Open to non-Saudi nationals of any country.
  • Applicants must be between 17 and 25 for bachelor’s programs.
  • External route: a secondary-school certificate or equivalent with at least a “Very Good” grade.
  • External route: medically fit to study in Saudi Arabia, of good conduct, and never dismissed from an educational institution.
  • External route: certificates attested by the home-country authorities and the Saudi embassy; home-government approval where that country requires it; a recommendation from a home-country educational or academic body if required.
  • Internal route: a secondary certificate from a school inside Saudi Arabia and a valid Saudi residency permit, plus the university’s general admission standards, good conduct and medical fitness.
  • Women on scholarship must have a mahram (a male guardian) with them, as the regulations require.
  • Applicants may not already hold a scholarship from any Saudi educational institution.
